Elevate Efficiency: Real-Time Insights for Transgrid’s Easement Route Planning

  • SpaceRake - Revolutionizing access track management

  • Transgrid loses millions of dollars annually due to inaccurate or outdated geospatial information about the access tracks they use to service their approximately 18,000 km of power lines.

    SpaceRake addresses Transgrid's problems using a custom-built AI that can further be tailored to meet Transgrid's needs. This AI has demonstrated the ability to find unmarked access tracks in a wide variety of environments, including the rugged and forested terrain of the Sheas Nob State Forest southwest of Grafton, New South Wales.

    During the proposed 9 month pilot program, SpaceRake will target the identification and mapping of 90+% of Transgrid's access tracks to within 10 meters of their actual location. Future engagement in a long term post-pilot contract will target the reduction of avoidable track condition-related job deferrals of 50% and accidental intrusion into biosecure zones and privately owned land of 90% by the 2nd year.

Farming the Future: Satellite Insights for Resilient Agriculture in Africa

  • We've introduced a data-driven solution that leverages Earth Observation to boost land productivity and grazing management. This initiative is tailored to enhance agricultural and livestock strategies, optimize grazing, and provide a forward-looking analysis for two Kenyan regions: Narok and Busia.

    Key to our approach is the development of a Grazing Index and the identification of Burned Areas. This dual-focus allows for a comprehensive understanding of vegetation health and land usability, crucial for effective grazing management. Our innovative web application delivers weekly updates, forecasting future trends and offering a visual representation of actionable insights for farmers and pastoralists. This tool is designed to mitigate inefficient crop residue disposal practices, which lead to environmental degradation and loss of valuable livestock feed.

    The heart of our solution is a robust algorithm capable of estimating vegetation growth cycles and patterns. This algorithm supports the creation of a user-friendly platform that guides farmers in optimizing grazing activities, thereby enhancing soil health and integrating seamlessly with crop farming for a more sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

On Track for Safety: Satellite Solutions for Road and Rail Networks

  • The proposed solution involves the use of Spottitt Metrics Factory (MF) to monitor TfNSW road/rail and associated assets and structures for vegetation encroachment, 3rd party risk and change detection issues, including asset specific growth rate and fire load risk assessments. Spottitt MF delivers self-service analytics and ‘decision maker ready’ metrics in three easy steps:

    1. Selection of metrics and sharing of client asset data

    2. Data capture, analysis, metric calculation, and report creation using the clients chosen thresholds and filters

    3. Viewing and integrating imagery, analyses and reports

Unlocking UK Vineyard Potential from Above: Cultivating Precision, Sustainability, and Innovation

  • Terraview - VitiGuard

  • VitiGuard offers significant financial and environmental benefits, primarily through reducing the frequency of spray applications in vineyards. By aiming to halve the number of spray applications, as desired by Bolney Wine Estate, the solution not only promises cost savings but more importantly also leads to healthier soil and water. This reduction minimises the risk of plant protection products accumulating in crops or leaving residues, with those applications approximately quantified at 600 GBP per hectare per application. Environmentally, VitiGuard addresses the overuse of plant protection products and their potential runoff into the water table, aligning with sustainable agricultural practices.

Quantify Change, Drive Transformation: Advancing Regenerative Farming Practices

  • Climate Farmers - Residue Management Insights

  • Climate Farmers, in partnership with Planet, has developed "Residue Management Insights for Scaling Regenerative Agriculture," a solution focusing on enhancing regenerative agriculture through advanced crop residue management. Utilizing high-resolution satellite imagery, this tool integrates indices such as RGB Imagery, NDVI, LAI, and Biomass Proxy to offer a detailed view of land management and ecosystem health. Aimed at improving decision-making in crop residue management and its wider ecological impacts, this tool underwent iterative development, incorporating feedback from farmers to ensure its practicality and relevance. This solution not only aids in monitoring post-harvest residue for better conservation practices but also aims to analyze residue's correlation with soil health, aiding in nutrient recycling and reducing synthetic fertilizer reliance. With this innovation, Climate Farmers aims to bridge farming with data-driven insights, proving and communicating the effectiveness of regenerative agriculture.
