Successful Challenge Champions will also have privileged access to relevant datasets and cloud computing credits to support the development of technology pilots and/or MVPs.

for Innovators

Spire collects rich and unique data-sets from the ultimate vantage point - space, relevant for Aviation, Weather and Maritime use cases. Data are generally available via live APIs or as historical data bulk delivery:

  • Tracking global air traffic in real time as well as historical datasets since early 2018.

    Datasets are comprised of positional data, aircraft information and flight data, and are picked up from both our satellites and terrestrial sources.

    The data is accessible through 2 modern APIs and can also be delivered with bulk data extracts.

  • At 12km resolution for the next 10 days, historical forecast data for the past 3 years, historical observation data for the past 10 years.

    Available data includes many weather variables spanning many use cases and industries. Live Forecasts are accessed via APIs, while historical data is provided in bulk downloads.

  • Access live as well as historical tracking data of vessels.

    The unique combination of Dynamic, Satellite & Terrestrial AIS provides accurate position updates throughout the world's oceans. Live AIS messages can be accessed using TCP Stream (NMEA messages) or APIs (NMEA message or decoded format). Historical AIS Data can be accessed via APIs (going back to December 2018) or delivered as csv files (going back to June 2016).

    In addition to AIS data, Spire provides commercial information of vessels, predicted route/eta can also be accessed via our APIs.
